The DynaPix picture engine is a highly effective processor that has evolved several generations since it was first introduced in 2003. The development objective of this unique picture-processor engine was simple: enhance picture-quality parameters to best suit specific device or panel characteristics and thus ensure rich, lifelike images. What originally began as basic enhancement of resolution and scaling has evolved into the design of effective noise reduction systems and intelligent picture controls that help to improve colour saturation, contrast and contours. For the latest 2007 models, three distinctive DynaPix picture engines have been designed to answer the specific requirements of different LCD models.
The DynaPix picture engine is equipped with scaler and formatter core component technologies as well as a number of supporting component technologies that help to enhance colours, contours and contrast.
The DynaPix Plus picture engine also features a scaler and formatter as its core components and is further enhanced by supporting functions that improve control of colours and contrast beyond the scope of the standard DynaPix engine.
For optimum performance, the DynaPix HD picture engine makes precise adjustments to significantly upgrade colour reproduction while increasing contrast remarkably with backlighting technology. The DynaPix HD picture engine is also capable of high-speed processing to match the Full HD panel potential.
As the signal passes through the processor, DynaPix picture engines detect the distinctive characteristics of picture information such as motion, colour, contrast, noise, jaggedness, etc., and enhance the signal in real-time appropriately.

When analysing colour intensity, DynaPix picture engines assess histogram information of the image to ensure appropriate levels of brightness, darkness and gradation*. To enrich colours and reproduce them as close as possible to the original source, DynaPix picture engines accurately adjust the colour spectrum for a more natural kind of vibrancy. And, some models feature wide colour gamut that further enhances reds and greens for exquisite colour reproduction. By precisely analysing the brightness levels of incoming signals, Smart Picture effectively compensates for scenes, frame by frame, to ensure that they are displayed at optimum brightness levels without sacrificing contrast and detail.
