Electric bass was king and queen at the Kongresowa for the final night of JVC Jazz in Poland. Local hero Piotr Zaczek, threw down the groove gauntlet with a rousing opening performance. Richard Bona answered with a stellar set. Bona's pure musicianship, singing and highly accessible mixture of Jazz and African music was well rewarded; he was called back for two encores.
Closing out the festival was Me'shell Ndegeocello, whose original style and attitude continue to influence musicians around the world. Her group featured two bass players and two drummers.
The festival drew over 6,000 fans for the four events and Warsaw continues its long tradition of presenting some of the finest jazz concerts and musicians in Eastern Europe.
