The classic Bataclan sold out in advance for Scandinavian Jazz by Swedish superstar piano trio E.S.T. and Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset, while across town Ron Carter, Russell Malone and Stephen Scott cast their spell on a packed and appreciative audience at New Morning.

At the Meridien Jazz Club near the Arc de Triomphe, Afropop star Manu Dibango paid tribute to Sidney Bechet in collaboration with French vibraphonist Dany Doriz, and new voices were heard throughout the week at the China Club, a new JVC Jazz Festival Paris venue near the Bastille. Some of the many new faces were the young vocal phenomenon Robin McKelle, the hot trumpeter Jeremy Pelt and the Texas swing- rockabilly sensation James Hunter, and every show was sold out!
