Friday night's opening show was a virtual sellout, drawing not only Newport residents, but people from the New England area who make the pilgrimage to be part of this historic event every year. Singer/guitarist John Pizzarelli and his big band played tribute to Frank Sinatra with songs he made classics including "Witchcraft" and "The Way You Look Tonight".

Another guitarist and John Pizzarelli's father, Bucky Pizzarelli, sat in with the band and played a duet with his son.
Jane Monheit and her quartet performed a combination of standards, including swing and Brazilian sounds. The classics in her repertoire included "Alphie", and a jazzy version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

Saturday and Sunday the second and third days of the three-day festival, were packed with back-to-back performances on three separate stages at Fort Adams State Park, from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
